Rockwall is a city in Rockwall County, Texas, United States. It is a part of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. In the early nineteenth century, the area was home to the National Road of the Republic of Texas, which connected the area to Dallas. The road also crossed the East Fork of Trinity River. The water made the road impassible at times, but some travelers chose to stop at Rockwall to start a new life. Despite being surrounded by large metropolitan areas, Rockwall TX has kept its small town character. The downtown area is dotted with historic buildings and charming stores. In addition to its major shopping center, Rockwall is also one of the leading entertainment destinations in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The city is home to the Rockwall Independent School District, which includes two public high schools and one public elementary school. As of the 2020 Census, 78.3% of the Rockwall, TX population was enrolled in some type of health insurance. Approximately 8.46% of workers carpooled or worked from home.
